Aston Clinton Veterinary Facilities
We have two modern and well-equipped sterile operating theatres both fitted out with up-to-date anaesthesia and anaesthetic monitoring equipment (heart rate, oxygen and blood pressure monitors). Here our vets perform a range of procedures from minor operations, such as neuterings and wound repairs, to complex operations, such as orthopaedic reconstructive surgeries. All patients are closely monitored by our highly trained veterinary nurses and we routinely administer pain relief to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
ECG and Monitoring Equipment
- Electocardiograph (ECG) – Our ECG is specifically designed for pets to help us investigate abnormalities in your pet’s heart and monitor any ongoing heart conditions.
- Pulse oximeter – This monitors blood oxygen levels and heart rates in anaesthetised or critically ill pets.
Our patient ‘prep’ room provides a separate area where the patient is prepared for surgery and where treatments are administered. Anaesthetic monitoring equipment is connected and readings are checked prior to surgery or for critical care in-patients. As necessary, patients are placed on intravenous fluids using modern high-tech infusion pumps.
We offer in-house biochemistry, haematology and microscopy which enables us to examine blood, urine, skin or other samples on the same day, which is important when requiring a diagnosis quickly. Some samples do require to be sent to an external laboratory but these results usually take only a few days.
Digital X-rays and Ultrasound
Our digital radiography equipment allows us to take x-rays of all types and sizes of pets from the smallest tortoise to the largest dog and takes just 60 seconds to develop. Our dental x-ray machine helps us to more accurately diagnose dental problems in your pets. Many people are familiar with ultrasound scanning for pregnancy, but it also provides a very safe way to examine internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, bladder, reproductive organs, heart and even eyes.
Even pets need dental care especially as they can’t brush their own teeth! We have a top of the range dental unit to care for all your pets’ dental needs. Most dental procedures are carried out under a general anaesthetic and pets are able to have the treatment and go home the same day. Following a procedure our veterinary nurses will offer advice on how to clean and protect your pet’s teeth at home. We offer a range of dental healthcare products and diets to help prevent the need for further dental treatment.
Hospitalisation and Intensive Care
We have a 24-hour dedicated team of veterinary surgeons and nursing staff to provide your pets with highly efficient and comfortable hospital and intensive care treatment. Our facilities include a range of different sized comfortable cages and beds are available for all manner of pets, an isolation ward for infectious cases, oxygen tents of various sizes, intravenous infusion pumps, vivaria for exotic pets, and specialised monitoring equipment for critical cases.
